Water stress modifies canopy light environment and qualitative and quantitative yield components in two soybean varieties

Abstract The influence of three levels water supply (unlimited (WW); stress during flowering (RO); rainfed (P)) on radiation properties and yield two soybean varieties (Sinara, Sin; Sigalia, Sig) were evaluated. Sin is considered to be tolerant stress. effect leaf area index, year, variety, meteorological variables evapotranspiration (ET) was analysed by hierarchical regression. This study attempted identify how affects the crop–light relationship between photosynthetically active (PAR) transmission use efficiency (RUE), which involved in qualitative quantitative traits related production (biomass attributes: seed yield, 1000-grain weight, oil protein content). Unstandardized coefficients air temperature ( T a ) showed that 1 °C increase daily mean induced higher ET, average 0.16 mm day −1 . Soil moisture strongly affected sowing time. When averaged across seasons at flowering, 97.7, 95.1 97.3% incoming PAR intercepted canopies plants WW, RO P, respectively. extinction coefficient k RUE pooled both 0.42 1.32 g MJ for 0.46 0.98 RO, respectively, compared with 0.44 1.15 P. As expected, treatment significantly all traits: decreased whereas WW increased Practically, are suitable cultivation under but greater unlimited watering conditions.
